Photoshop quick tip – how to fake HDR


To achieve a HDR-kinda look you can either play with RAW images, various software, filters or do a similar effect MUCH much easier. See how.

Let’s start with an image of a forest like this one:

The next step is to duplicate the image onto a new layer (CTRL + J or Command + J on a Mac) and then invert the top image to a negative image (CTRL + I or Command + I) like this:

Then desaturate the image (CTRL + SHIFT + U or command + shift + U) so it will look like that:

The final step is to change the Blending to Overlay and your image should look like the one on top of this page. Enjoy!
